Doesn't record through USB

I've been trying to record and not getting any sound using the USB interface. It works fine when I connect the turntable to my stereo with RCA jacks, then connect to the stereo through the LINE IN port.

I've followed the instructions in the manual and tried every input device listed in the drop down (ie wave, line in, CD player, microphone, stereo mix). No sound. I've tried the USB in multiple ports on my PC so it's not the port.

Any ideas?

windows 7

No problems with XP but it sounds like I am recording through the mic on the computer not through the USB connection.

Try going to Preferences and

Try going to Preferences and making sure that the recording device is listed as either USB CODEC or Microsoft Sound Mapper (Input)
