radio stuck on "starting..." on turn on

the radio shows "starting...." and never changes from turnon, I tried unplugging and turn off and on etc. I am looking for a hardware reset. The one in the manual is through the on board menu factory reset. But this assumes that I can get to the menu. Any ideas, seems that it should have a hardware reset on plug in.
