Sound during recording

this is the first time I've tried the Grace. It will record, but not play the song while I'm recording. I've checked
the connections, and tried playing around with the output sources and volume levels.

Does this unit play the lp while recording? I thought that's what the output speaker levels were for...I only have the
unit plugged in to my PC via USB cable. If the PC doesn't play the songs, why have the two bars and speaker icon for output levels?
The only way I've heard the music is after I save it and export it as an MP3 file.
Also, what's the best setting to get rid of record hiss or scratches...I tried the remove noise thing and that changed the
whole recording into a weird sounding song. I used the click reduction tool and still hear scratches and the high end notes blur, sounds that do not show up when playing the album through a regular turntable and stereo.
I might return it and get the Sony USB version; it was more, but I heard the software was better.

Is there any source for finding out how to set the EFFECTs and Generate tools? I wanted to turn my valuable rare lps into digital files, and I have about 900 albums to do, so I'd like to do

Sound playthru

I had the same problem and stumbled upon the solution. In "audacity", click on Edit/Preferences/Audio IO and then click in the box "Software Playthrough", then "OK".
Now you can hear the album as you record. (be sure your computer volume is up and not muted)
