Unable to upgrade

I have a new Grace radio I got over Christmas. The version number ends 030. I tried performing an upgrade but it just won't take. After I answer "yes" for performing the upgrade, it'll show the upgrading screen then after about five seconds the radio will cycle off then on. After Initializing Network, the radio enters the standby mode with the time showing as 12:00 AM. If I then manually turn on the radio, it'll connect up to my wireless and operate as normal (time is reset to current time) BUT the upgrade did not occur. I've tried this a few times with the same results. I've also tried resetting back to factory with no result. The radio works fine but it'd be sure nice to get the new features everyone else has been talking about!

Anyone else have this problem?

I had the same problem

I also tried resetting to factory settings, also with no success. It's been a few days now, but I think that after I clicked 'Yes' on the upgrade screen and it started to look like it was going to download the firmware I began turning the selector knob an increment or two every few seconds to keep it from turning itself off. Once the display showed download progress I did it for a few more seconds and then stopped to see what would happen. It finished the job.

However, after that was done I turned it on and got a DNS server error. I unplugged and plugged it back in and got the same message. I immediately called Grace because I had about had it with the radio and he suggested unplugging it again. It mostly worked after that but hasn't had a hiccup since I turned the Auto-Standby function on (I think that is what it's called).

Unfortunately, I'm probably bringing this thing back. I never took the film off the faceplate because I never got Pandora to work and 'Windows shares' thinks that I need a password to get into my account. I have emailed Reciva multiple times about the Pandora issue, emailed Grace once and talked to their customer support agent who took my info and said that their tech people would have to get back to me. I even posted on the forum to no avail. Oh well.

Hope this helps. (sorry for the rant)

Bob, I disagree with the

Bob,

I disagree with the other poster here! 070 is a great step forward with many benefits! You may have a section of your firmware gone bad and preventing you from completing the upgrade that obviously D/L'd to your radio. I would suggest emailing Grace for a possible replacement if they can't get this going for you:

Keep 030

You may just want to hold onto version 030. I believe that was the last good working firmware before all the trouble. Personally, I don't need Sirius, like the display the way it was, and don't mind waiting 30 seconds to connect upon power-up. I never took the new firmware when it was released and very thankful for it!

Upgrade successful

Just to add another data point: this week I upgraded from my original version 030 to the latest. 070 -2. Everything went perfectly, and the radio certainly now seems to connect to the internet more quickly, and chosen stations connect more quickly and seem to tolerate a lower WiFi signal strength, than before. With version 030, I found I could improve the connection (in a weak WiFi signal area of the house) by using a WiFi range expander. After the upgrade, I find the range expander is unnecessary. Everything now works very well indeed.

During the upgrade, there was a point where nothing seemed to be happening for a couple of minutes, and I wondered whether the upgrade process had hung. However, patience paid off and eventually the upgrade finished successfully without any intervention.

I did find today that I was unable to access Pandora for an hour or two, but eventually the "problem" cleared and everything seems perfect now. I have no idea if the temporary Pandora problem was my end or theirs.

I am extremely pleased with the upgraded system. Good luck!

Really, KEEP 030

The best thing about 030 was, IT WORKED!
In fact, that was the last time my radio did work.
