WiFi Connecting Problems with Allegro GDI-IRD4000 too
For months, my Allegro GDI-IRD4000 worked fine with my Wifi, which is running WAP2 encryption.
Now for some reason it will often play for an hour, then start dropping into the "Connecting" status, sometimes staying there for 5 or 10 minutes until I tend to it. It's almost like the RF receiver is being disabled temporarily, because it says that there are no wireless networks in the area when I ask it to scan for Wifi networks.
To fix it, I can flip the switch in the back of the radio off and on (the switches on the remote or top will not help), and after it boots up, it will list several of our neighbors' network names. Then, I can select my network, and after it goes through the complete login routine, the station I was listening too works fine, sometimes for days.
ITC-IR1000B sound loss and erratic behavior
I've been having the same problem as well (same radio, same firmware), with some additional issues. The radio will gradually lose sound completely, although the display still indicates that it is accessing the selected station. Turning the volume control has no effect - the radio stays silent, while still displaying the station info. I know the stations are still working, since I have no trouble receiving them on my computer. If I unplug the radio for a lengthy period of time (i.e. an hour or two, since unplugging it only for a minute has no effect), it appears to reset and works for a short period, but soon it starts acting up again - gradually losing signal and sound until it's completely silent. I've tried the factory reset several times, as well as setting Wireless Standby to yes (suggested by a Grace tech). At the moment, my wireless router (Airport Extreme) is less than 2 feet from the radio, but no change in behavior. Attempting to upgrade the firmware (also suggested by the tech) hasn't worked, since there's "No upgrade available." Any ideas for a fix?
Me too!
I too have this same maddening problem with the same model radio. It worked fine for a couple months then started this crap. I tried moving a wireless (dual band) phone away from the airport express . I tried different locations for the radio. The odd thing was it played ok all day (when i don't need it) but won't play at night. Says wireless signal strength is 80-85%, but no sound from ANY station or plays then cuts out, etc.. Other wireless device (wireless netbook) works fine. IR1000B is crap. Can anyone suggest a wireless internet radio that works since there's no help forthcoming here?
