USB Turntable Ejecting Too Early

I have a new Grace Digital USB Turntable that I just purchased, model AVPUSB01S. It is working just fine, and I am able to record my records using the Audacity software. The only problem is that it consistently ejects the tone arm just before the end of the last track on the record. It will be playing along just fine, and right before the end of the track, the turntable makes a little grinding or mechanical sound, and then lifts the tone arm and returns it to its rest position. I have tried to record the last track on several different LP's, and on both sides. It ejects too early on all of them, every time.

Am I doing something wrong? Or, is there an adjustment to keep the tone arm from returning too early?

Ejecting Too Early

I've had a few USB turntables and I've had this problem before. It's actually a pretty easy fix but it does involve unscrewing up the bottom plastic cover of the turntable. Not too hard really. It's like six screws I think. Once the bottom is unscrewed, on the bottom side of the turntable (directly underneath the tonearm), there is a screw that controls how the tone arm goes on the record. Click here to see a picture of the screw.

To solve your problem you would need to turn that screw clock-wise, which would allow the tone arm to go to the end of the record. It is a very small adjustment so a really small turn will probably solve your problem. You might need to try it out and adjust it a couple times to get it just right.

If that sounds like a little more than you want to take on, then I would suggest taking advantage of your warranty and send it in to get fixed. I'm sure Grace would do it quick free of charge no problem. Good luck!

Info on Turntable ejecting too early

Johnny,

Thanks for your information! I figured it was probably an adjustment, but I couldn't figure out where the screw was located. Since this was a brand-new turntable, I called Grace and they had me send it to them for repair or replacement under warranty.

I will keep your information, though, in case I need to adjust this in the future! Thanks again......
