The Victoria Soundwriter fuses a classic 1950's nostalgic design with a modern multi-function music system. The Soundwriter also includes a unique USB recording feature to save your music from VINYL, CASSETTE or AUX directly to your PC or Mac.

The Soundwriter's beautifully designed, ebony cabinet and complimentary cloth covered stereo speakers & nostalgic front panel are as attractive to look at as listen to. The audio system includes a built-in CD player, turntable with 78, 33, and 45 RPM playing speeds, cassette tape player, AM/FM analog radio, line-in connection, headphone jack and uniquely crafted side drawer with built-in 3.5mm audio jack to connect your iPhone or other portable audio device.

The Soundwriter stands alone as a classically designed retro-style addition for your home or office. The USB recordable feature offers a solution for your irreplaceable vinyl or cassette tape collection that has been stored away & gathering dust. Audacity recording software is included for free to support USB recordings to your PC or Mac. Once saved to your computer, you can keep the files on your computer's music library, burn your saved recordings to CD and/or convert your songs to MP3 or WAV for use on your iPod & other audio devices.

Q: What are the Soundwriter's audio features?

A: The Soundwriter plays CD's, tape cassettes, vinyl albums, AM/FM radio and connects to external audio devices via a line-in cable connection.

Q: How does the Soundwriter record my vinyl and tapes to my computer?

A: The Soundwriter records to your PC or Mac via a USB connection using a recording software called Audacity. To record start recording your desired audio to your computer, simply connect the USB cable between your Soundwriter & your computer, install the Audacity software on your computer, open the Audacity program on your computer, start playing the audio you wish to record and press the record button on Audacity.

Q: Does the Soundwriter connect and play any MP3 player?

A: The Soundwriter connects to your mp3 player or any portable audio device via the device's 3.5mm headset jack (typical for most smart phones) and either the Line-in connection at the front of the unit or the 3.5 cable connection in the Soundwriter's side drawer.

Q: What is the drawer on the side of the Soundwriter intended?

A: The Soundwriter side drawer can be used as a storage drawer. The drawer also provides 3.5mm cable that is built into the side drawer. The cable connects to an external portable audio device via a 3.5mm headset jack.

Functions

Plug your GDI-SW2USB into a power outlet.  Connect the USB cord from the unit to your computer.  Turn on the unit using the Volume knob and power on your computer. Insert the Audacity CD and install on your computer.  Once installed, open Audacity on your computer.  On your SW2USB, use the dial to select the audio source (PHONO, TAPE, etc.) you wish to record.  Ready your album or tape and start to play .  At the same time, on your computer press the Audacity RECORD button on the Audacity interface to begin recording.  Once you have completed recording your audio, press the Audacity STOP button on the Audacity interface.  On your computer, click on File at the top of the Audacity interface, scroll to EXPORT (save) and select to save the recorded file to the desired location on your computer.  Once saved (Exported) to your computer, you can move the file to Windows Media Player or iTunes for use as an MP3 audio file or burn to a CD.  Visit http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/  for additional recording tips and details...
